Extra Payments

Extra payments are the fastest way to accelerate your mortgage payoff and save thousands in interest. Every extra dollar goes 100% to principal, reducing your balance and future interest charges. PayOffPro makes it easy to add one-time or recurring payments with instant impact visualization.

How to Add Extra Payments

Three ways to access:

• Dashboard → Tap "Make Extra Payment" card

• Payment Schedule → Tap any payment row

• Payment Management → Tap "+" button

Extra Payment sheet slides up.

Enter amount via quick buttons ($100, $250, $500, $1,000) or custom amount.

Add Extra Payment — Step 3

Choose payment type: ONE-TIME or RECURRING.

If recurring, select frequency (Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly) and duration.

Review Impact Preview showing interest saved and time saved.

Tap "Apply $XXX" button to confirm.

Payment applies immediately—your dashboard and schedule update in real-time.

Payment Types

One-Time Payment

Single extra payment added to one specific month. Perfect for bonuses, tax refunds, or windfalls applied to your mortgage.

Example: Add $2,500 to December 2025 (holiday bonus) → Saves ~$4,575 interest over loan life

Recurring Payment

Automated extra payments at regular intervals. Choose frequency:

• Monthly: Every month for X months

• Quarterly: Every 3 months for X quarters

• Yearly: Once per year for X years

Example: $500/month for 12 months starting January 2026 → Creates 12 payments, total $6,000 extra principal → Saves ~$26,164 interest, accelerates payoff by 3 months

Managing Extra Payments

Access Payment Management View from Dashboard or Schedule tab when payments exist.

Individual Delete

1. Locate payment in list

2. Tap red X button on right

3. Confirm deletion (cannot be undone)

Note: Past month payments show lock icon 🔒 and cannot be deleted (preserves payment history).

Bulk Actions

• Clear All This Month: Red button removes all extra payments for current month

• Clear All Future Extra Payments: Orange button removes all scheduled future payments (shows count badge)

Impact Visualization

When you add extra payments, watch your Dashboard update:

Dashboard Changes:

• Monthly Payment Card: "Extra" segment appears in bar chart

• Principal Progress: "You've Saved" shows time saved

• Current Milestone: Progress bar advances toward next achievement

• Debt-Free Countdown: Years/months remaining decreases

• Interest Summary: "Your Savings" increases

Schedule Changes:

• Payment rows show badge with extra amount

• Remaining balance decreases faster month-over-month

• Payoff date moves earlier (fewer total payments)
